USING THE ONLINE PLATFORM

When will digital screenings be available on this platform?
Digital screenings on Shift72 will begin on Wednesday the 6th of October and will be scheduled throughout the festival until it closes on Sunday the 17th of October.

Will I be able to access online screenings and events on all my devices?
You can register up to 3 devices on your account. Once you start watching content on the platform, the device you are using to do so will be automatically registered.

Windows, MacOS, Android, and iOS are all supported by Shift72. You should be able to access the online platform on any device that runs on any of these systems.

Which internet browser should I use to access the online platform?
Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer and Opera are compatible with Shift72. We recommend using the latest version of your browser as earlier versions may not be supported. You will need a broadband or fibre internet connection. Dial-up will not work.

Will there be any ballots this year?
A small selection of the films online will be accessible via a ballot system. We will provide as much notice of this as possible to keep the system fair, and to ensure that delegates interested in these titles are able to apply for entry through the ballot.

How long will films be available for online?
All online press and industry screenings will take place during the festival (6-17 October). These screenings will take place at designated times on Shift72. Each screening will have a start-time, an exclusive access-window during which you must start watching the film, and an end-point, after which you will no longer be able to access the title.

Please check the start-time ahead of each online screening you want to attend in order to avoid disappointment.

Can I exit the browser window during a screening, and return to the film later?
Each film will be available for a strictly limited period. If you leave the browser window after the initial access-window has closed, you will lose access to the film.

Can I download the films onto my device(s)?
No. The films cannot be downloaded.

The film won’t play.
If you are using a Windows or Mac computer, try logging into the platform on an alternative internet browser (i.e. use Google Chrome instead of Internet Explorer or Safari).

Make sure there are no other applications running in the background on your device that may be interrupting the bandwidth, and check that you are attempting to watch the film within its access-window. If your internet connection is weak or inconsistent, you may experience problems with picture or audio quality during playback.
